App: Kinday (com.kinday.app)
Developer: Maksym Baranov
Kinday helps you remember important dates and gift ideas for people you care about. This policy explains what data the app processes, where it is stored, and what leaves your device.
Summary
- Your profiles, events, gift ideas, and notes are stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit.
- Profile photos stay on your device unless you enable iCloud sync (then they sync through Apple's infrastructure).
- AI gift suggestions (optional feature) send limited text to our server, which forwards it to Google Gemini to generate ideas. This is the only feature that sends personal content to third-party services.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics SDKs.
- You can delete all app data at any time in Settings → Delete all data.
1. Data you enter in the app
Kinday stores the information you choose to add:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Profile name | Display and search |
| Profile notes | Your reminders about hobbies, sizes, preferences |
| Custom events (name, date, emoji) | Calendar and reminders |
| Gift ideas (title, notes, price, status) | Gift planning |
| Optional profile photo | Avatar in the app |
| Notification preferences | Local reminders |
This data is processed to provide app functionality only.
2. Local storage and iCloud
- Data is stored locally using SwiftData on your iPhone or iPad.
- If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Kinday, data syncs to iCloud.com.kinday.app using Apple CloudKit.
- Sync is handled by Apple; we do not operate our own database of your profiles.
- Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud: apple.com/legal/privacy
Local database files may use Complete file protection when the device is locked.
3. AI gift suggestions (optional)
When you tap Suggest gift ideas, the app sends a request to our API:
Endpoint: https://kindayapi.sunuplab.com/api/v1
Data that may be sent:
- Profile name
- Notes you entered for the suggestion
- Selected event name and date (if any)
- Price hint and currency
- Titles of existing gift ideas (to avoid duplicates)
- Previous suggestions in the same session (when refining)
- App language (
en,ru, oruk) - Anonymous device identifier (random UUID stored on device) for rate limiting
Data that is not sent:
- Profile photos
- Full profile notes unless you paste them into the suggestion form
- Apple ID or account information (Kinday has no login)
Our server processes the request and calls Google Gemini (gemini-2.5-flash) to generate gift ideas. Google's terms and privacy policy apply to that processing: policies.google.com/privacy
Rate limits: To prevent abuse, requests are limited to 5 per device per day.The device identifier is not linked to your name in our systems beyond rate-limit counters.
Do not enter sensitive data (passwords, medical, financial, or third-party secrets) into notes used for AI suggestions.
If the API is unavailable, the app shows an error; no data is sent for failed offline requests.
4. Notifications
Kinday schedules local notifications on your device for upcoming events. Notification content is generated on-device from your stored data. We do not send push notifications from our servers.
You control notifications in Settings and per profile.
5. Photos
If you add a profile photo, Kinday requests access to your Photo Library (read and optionally save). Photos are stored in the app's private container on your device. We do not upload photos to our servers for the AI feature.
6. Settings statistics
The Settings screen shows counts of profiles, gift ideas, and given gifts. These numbers are calculated on your device from local SwiftData storage. They are not sent to our servers.
7. What we do not collect
Kinday does not include:
- Advertising or ad tracking
- Third-party analytics (Firebase, Amplitude, etc.)
- Crash reporting services tied to your identity
- Social media integrations
- User accounts or email registration inside the app
Diagnostic logs may be written locally using Apple's os.log (e.g. errors, API status codes). Logs do not include your profile notes or gift text.
8. Feedback form
Links in Settings open an external feedback form (Tally) in your browser. Information you submit there is governed by Tally's privacy policy, not this document.
9. Data retention and deletion
- Delete all data in Settings removes profiles, events, gifts, and cancels scheduled notifications on the device. If iCloud sync is on, deletions propagate through CloudKit according to Apple's sync rules.
- Uninstalling the app removes local data from the device.
- Data sent for AI suggestions is processed transiently on our server; we do not design the service to build long-term profiles of users. Server logs may retain technical metadata (timestamps, status codes) for a limited time for security and abuse prevention.
10. Children's privacy
Kinday is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. International users
If you use AI gift suggestions, data may be processed in countries where our server (Cloudflare) and Google operate, including outside your home country.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when features change. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect changes. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the revised policy.
